Practice that keeps students coding.

Between tests, students solve code challenges at their own pace. A daily challenge, streaks and a school leaderboard bring them back, and practice never touches their grades.

Built for practice, not for grades.

Practice is free for every student, in a class or learning alone. It opens the whole platform library and keeps score in points, never in grades.

  • About 945 code challenges

JavaScript, Java, Python, PHP and SQL, easy to hard, in English or French, filtered by language, difficulty, skill and status. Each one is checked against public and hidden cases.

  • Reasons to come back

A daily challenge for the whole school, a streak of days, a weekly goal, tiers from Bronze to Diamond and a school leaderboard.

  • Private by design

Teachers see which problems a student solved and when, never their code or failed attempts. Practice never changes Progress levels.

How practice works.

  1. Pick a challenge

Start from Suggested for you, today’s challenge or the full list. Each challenge shows its difficulty and its points.

  2. Code and submit

Run the public examples, then submit. A challenge is solved only when every case passes, hidden ones included.

  3. Earn points

1 point for easy, 3 for medium and 5 for hard on the first solve, plus a bonus point for the daily challenge.

The details.

What students find in practice today.

Daily challenge
The same problem each day for the whole school, or for everyone practising without one, easier early in the week and harder at the weekend. Solving it on the day earns a bonus point.
Streak and weekly goal
The streak counts days in a row with a solve. Each student sets a weekly goal of 1, 3, 5 or 10 problems.
Leaderboard
Students of the same school, ranked all time, this month and by most improved. At most 20 points a day count, so nobody climbs by rushing.
Tiers and skill sets
Bronze from 10 points, then Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond at 600. A skill set is complete once every problem of the skill is solved.
Suggested for you
Problems one difficulty above where the student’s tests put them, in their weakest skills first. Before any test, the ones they started, then new ones at their level.
Practice quizzes
Quizzes a teacher opens for practice, and Echelio’s own, with the answer and its explanation after each question and unlimited tries.

Questions about practice.

What teachers and students ask.

Is practice free for students?
Yes. Students never pay. Any student can sign up and practise for free, with or without a school, and practice comes with every class, whether it belongs to a school or to a teacher on their own.
What do teachers see from practice?
Which problems each student solved, by difficulty and skill, and when they last practised. Never their code, their failed attempts or a grade.
Does practice affect grades or Progress levels?
No. Practice is never graded and never changes Progress levels. It only earns practice points.
How do students earn points?
1 point for an easy problem, 3 for medium and 5 for hard, on each problem’s first solve, plus 1 for the daily challenge. Up to 20 points a day count on the leaderboard.
Can students paste code into practice?
No. As in tests, the editor blocks paste and dropped text, so every solve is typed by the student.
Which languages can students practise?
JavaScript, Java, Python, PHP and SQL today, with more on the way. Students can filter the challenges by language.
